Just because it's AUGUST 2017 doesn't mean we are done celebrating MY birthday - OH no!!
The birthday festivities arent over until I get my family party!! As you can see my Mom did her "best" to make me a Frenchie Cake - It was a solid effort but I think I'll ask her to stick to 2D animals from now on.
Ain't no Frenchie Party until everyone is wearing .... wild animal masks?!!
Another "fun" idea by Mom who had app that animated the faces of these animals masks on the person ....FAIL!!
However I will give her a small amount of credit for finding a herd of Frenchies for me to snuggle. I named them: Cake, Bacon, Professor Cake and The Runt.
Yay for DOUBLE DIGITS!!

Morty made the ad for the camp sailing page! |
~ The final days of our Cape Cod summer pretty much always go like this....
#1) Mom insists we fish, clam hunt, talk about clam hunting and/or eat clams so our clamming license doesn't go to waste.
#2) We go on a family beach walk on Nauset Beach.
Little did we know that the summer of 2017 was the last summer we would be eating onion rings at the iconic Liams Seafood Shack on the beach as the storms later that year would completely change the beach forever and demolish Liams.

#3) Dad Brings in the boat that rarely gets used but of course we always have great intentions!

ahoy thur matey!! |
#4) Dad had a very quiet birthday with only Gamma left to help us celebrate Dad. I guess thats pretty much how it all started so maybe that makes sense? I often feel bad for Dad that everyone leaves right before his birthday but he says he doesn't mind. : /
We bought him quite a few gifts but I think you can see which one Morty and I thought was the BEST!!

a king sized chair for KING |
#5) We said "See you later!" to Cape Cod and head into Boston to celebrate Morty's birthday. But FIRST, we try and see the Feinberg-Carey family. Anyone who loves to eat BBQ then go and get donut ice cream sandwiches is FUN in my book!
#6) Somehow our plan to head back home ended up with us being booked on a plane the day of Mortys REAL birthday so we decided it would be cool for him to celebrate a little in Boston too.
The things he MOST wanted to do included....

Walking Katie, the hotel Labrador (everyone misses the pups) |

- she did NOT want to go anywhere but the farmers market |

Racing the ducks!! - Morty seems to get the aerodynamics but ... I won! - obvi |

Eating Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches from the Cookie Monstah truck! |

Lookout - Dad always takes TAXES! Then we decided to have one last stop at the merry go round in the park. We don't have any photos from there because Mom and I were too busy reading all the signs that were being hung before the protests began the next day. There's something pretty amazing about the feeling when a group of people get together to protest against hate/bigotry and white supremacy. The Boston marches that week were pretty powerful! |
The Next day was Morty's official 8th Birthday. Two things were certain.
#1) he needed a haircut
#2) Living in California was a reality when the flight home was more than double in length
Thanks to the help of family friend Carolyn, Morty's birthday stayed right on course when we got to the house with a pound cake and candles to make sure that special wish came true!

Nice Corgi and Mountain bike theme! |
As if this month weren't already long enough, we were only a little over half way through!! WOAH!
Of course Mom & Dad's wedding anniversary is the day after Morty's birthday (poor planning parental figures!!)

Dad's not crying - he's sweating in STL! |
Next up - we absolutely HAD to check in with the Harrisons!!

I didn't eat the whole bag of candy Mom, why do you ask?? |
Mop head Morty FINALLY got a haircut from this super cool place in Nob Hill by a guy called Dany. I think he totally understood Morty and his vibe of scared wild animal so it turned out pretty good, don't you think?

he gets a hot eucalyptus towel wrap, say what?? |

So fly |
Then the slightly scary stuff about moving started to creep in. School orientation!!! Dad tried to lighten the mood - which is exactly what we needed.

All class!! |
Before we knew it the first day of school was upon us. I was a mix of emotions: scared, excited, worried and definitely sad. I missed Maeve so much and I was really worried she would forget me and I wouldn't find such a good friend in my new school. Little did I know that I would actually have sooo many friends at my new school! None that would make me forget Maeve or make me miss her less but fun ones that would like me for me and I would laugh sooooooo hard with them! SUCCESS!

Morty never really seemed that nervous but he's a quiet guy. He was super happy to have new friends that loved sports like him. |
The first day of school was hard for Mom too. I know that she was trying to hide it but I could tell that it was big change for her too and there things she really missed about STL too. Lucky Dina was there to keep her company every step of the way. She took her on a hike, bought her a matcha and made sure she knew she had friends to count on. That's a GREAT friend right there!
