September 2017 NorCal Chapter is in full swing!

The first thing one must do when they move to Northern California is start hiking. The views are gorgeous, the doggies get to join and Morty has a new nickname as The Lizard King! He literally threw himself head-long over a stump to catch a lizard... why does he do this?!!

King Mountain has been conquered!

While we are on the subject of increased activity, lets go down the list of all the extra curricular activities that are on the calendar these days.

Mortys love of biking has been increased 10 fold after getting  GoPro for his birthday.  Dude is constantly asking dad to take him out for a ride. Is his helmet a bit wonky or is it just me?

Rec Soccer is also in full effect for Mortano. He doesn't exactly love the game or really like any of his teammates and he hates when wet grass gets stuck to his cleats but other than that it's something to gripe about twice a week and get some energy out.

Morty found this mega Mountain scooter at a garage sale down the street. This is his main source of transportation for the super short ride to school. He spends a lot of time working on his hops when mom or dad won't take him to the trail to ride around. Mom LOOK! over and over and over and over again....

When we arent shuttling Morty around we try and sign up for the random 5k - even if it benefits another school in the area. This one had really cool pre-race snacks. Boudin was making breads shaped like fish! Think they knew we were coming? So sweet of them to honor us that way.

Mom and I were a little under the weather for the 5k so she walked while I scooted and Morty ran ahead . It wasn't an ideal situation but we finished the race none the less.

Me? well I dont know if you've heard my sob story yet - although I try and tell anyone who will listen. Marin doesn't have field hockey for anyone under the age of 13!!! Can you believe that nonsense?? So Lacrosse it is!! I do like lacrosse but my mom says I have a case of "The Grass on the other side if always greener". I think she's just being insensitive... maybe.

Even the pups joined a workout group. They get to hike Mt. Tam every day. Maybe this is where the saying "Lucky Dog" comes from?

Our new school also had a Sock Hop Carnival to start off the year and it was all FREE! Can you believe it? Food, games, dancing, balloon animals and MORE! it was pretty cool - can you tell how psyched we were?

Right off the bat Morty had a birthday party for a classmate and Mom said it was the best kids party she had ever attended. An afternoon at the beach, kids playing in tide pools, gathered around a campfire with S'mores and cake, adult beverages and these incredible pretzel Sunbather wraps that were too good to comprehend. Now thats a California birthday party!!

While we were having fun with our new friends and surroundings it was also weighing heavily on Mom, Morty & I that our friends in STL were not part of our everyday lives and we missed them SO much. Its a weird idea to move to a place that you always went for vacation, because somewhere in your brain you still think you might be going home soon. We were trying hard to adjust....

FaceTime with Maevey Lou

The panneri's sweetly sent Morty a massive photo puzzle!!!

Not long after school started we had a long weekend so we could go back and give everyone a hug in person. It felt sooooooo good to see everyone and have them return the smiles and hugs was just what we needed.

Mission Taco Love

Lunching with Landy the goofball

I miss Maeve!!

All in all, We are feeling pretty good about the move for the most part. Sweet new friends helping to make box guitars, Awesome art teachers, living near Dad's "girlfriend" GG and so many new places to eat and see. Morty is working on his chopstick skills.... it might take a while.

Come for a visit and we will show you around!!

xoxo Mal
